RTÉ Two’s Hit Series No Experience Required launches new search for participants

APPLY TODAY!!
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” (Confucius)

RTÉ Two’s ‘No Experience Required’ is back with another nationwide search for people who want a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get their dream job – no experience required.

For those stuck in a rut, bored of the daily grind and dreaming of making a career change, ‘No Experience Required’ offers them the unique opportunity to land a job in industries that are considered more exciting than most and difficult to get into.

Five of Ireland’s most successful bosses will cast their recruitment nets wide, opening up the opportunity to people who don’t necessarily have experience in the field, but who can demonstrate passion and talent for the position.

Positions on offer include:
• A PR Consultant with a top PR Firm
• An Editorial Assistant with a leading publishing house
• A Landscape Designer with an international garden design company.
• A Sports Photographer with an award-winning photography agency
• A Music Promoter for one of Ireland’s premier music promoters.

This six-part television series, which is being made for RTÉ Two by Liberty Films, will start filming this summer for broadcast in early 2007. Each of the candidates will be offered a six-month entry level/trainee contract with a leading organisation in their dream industry. Executive Producer of No Experience Required, Katie Brosnan of Liberty Films said, “Lots of people procrastinate about changing jobs but never get around to doing anything about it.  We are offering people the chance to make the change and get the job they have always dreamed of, but didn’t think was possible. We want to find people with potential rather than qualifications and this opportunity is open to everyone.”

Eager followers of last year’s series will also get a chance to discover who survived beyond the six-month contract and who was shown the door. The new series of No Experience Required will kick off with a catch-up episode featuring last year’s participants and bosses; Kevin Thornton, Paddy Power, Stuart Fogarty of AFA O’Meara, Hugh Wallace of Douglas Wallace, Ger Colleran from The Star and Mhairi Roche, Head Fashion Buyer at Arnotts.

Paddy Power who recruited a Sports Trader through the programme told The Sun Newspaper when interviewed for their TV pick of the day “I can’t say who won but the winner is actually brilliant and really suited to being a sports trader.”

The Sunday Tribune reviewed the last series, “An Irish reality TV show that’s well produced, with non-annoying narration, likeable contestants, a tense narrative and a meaningful prize …. this excellent series …. is well worth the watch”

Free Music

Hi gang, had a strange weekend, started off great but ended with a stinker of a head cold. I blame the weather. Anyways, back to full steam today and had a busy little show. First up my guest in studio today was singer Majella Murphy. From her press release “Majella Murphy launched herself on the live Dublin circuit a few years ago where she garnered much praise culminating in the support slot for Jamie Cullum’s sell out Olympia concert and more recently supported Camille in the same venue. “From as early as I can remember I loved music……..I sang everywhere and as often as possible.” Majella who writes and arranges her own songs as well as playing guitar and harmonica spent time in Nashville recording with legendary producer Nathan Crowe (Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Meat Loaf, Brian May and grammy award winning rap artist Bizzy Bre), before moving to LA to work with Eric Rosse who focuses on developing unique and innovative artists, he produced both Tori Amos’ Grammy nominated albums. The result her debut album “Brave New World” will be available later in the year. Majella is justifiably proud to have accomplished all this independently with no major record company support. This song will not be available in the shops but will be exclusively available as a free download from Majella’s website www.majellamurphy.com.” She was well sound and performed a tune live in studio. The Irish Times have an interview with her today.

Subject:  Bit of Trivia

Hi Alan,

Have you ever tried to outsmart your foot?

While sitting at your desk lift your right foot off the floor and make
clockwise circles, now while doing this draw the number 6 in the air with
your right hand.

Notice your foot will change direction!

Enjoy your show

Regards Shefflin.

* Elsewhere if you have time to spare have a look at this. A guy called Howard Schatz decided to invite actors to his studio, give them a certain situation to act out by facial reaction only and then take a picture of it. The result is so clever. Creative class.

* Finally caught the season finale of West Wing Season 2 last night, without doubt one of the finest pieces of TV ever. So glad I've started watching the show.

More later. Alan

PS. Will post some My Space music links later

Something for the Weekend

Had a poxy cold for the past 3 days, but feel somewhat human again today!Music from todays show included Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Pattie Smyth, Corinne Bailey Rae and Bic Runga.

Elswhere, just saw the brand new James Bond trailer which can be found here. After seeing Daniel Craig in a full trailer, I totally stand by what I first thought – he will be a fantastic James Bond. Can't wait for November 17th 06, the day CR is released.

Other movie clips that caught my eye includes Wordplay. According to the site the film "Focuses on the man most associated with crossword puzzles, New York Times puzzle editor and NPR puzzle-master Will Shortz. Director Patrick Creadon introduces us to this passionate hero, and to the inner workings of his brilliant and often hilarious contributors, including syndicated puzzle creator Merl Reagle." Watch out for the John Stewart contrubution – class.

Elsewhere watched World Cup – England Vs Trinidad & Tobago. Now we all know Peter Crouch scored the first goal but did you know he pulled the T&T defenders hair back to make it easier to score. Rubbish? Well I thought so too until I saw this clip. Still love Crouchy though!

Next week on the show – new album from Jewel – Goodbye to Alice in Wonderland. Years free gym membership to a top hotel and all the usual messing.

Have a great weekend.

Alan

Reason for no blog since June 1st?

Hi, sorry for no updates but in fairness Ireland is currently enjoying a heatwave. Spending anymore time indoors then I have too would just be silly. Don't worry the Sun won't last long here. I'll be back blogging by Monday :-)

World cup starts tommorow YES!

Take it easy, Alan
